Result Cause and Denial

motivational simple inscription against doubts

I recently had a conversation with someone who was struggling learning his new job, and he told me this: “The training isn’t good enough – I can’t learn this way.”

He was going to file a complaint against his new manager after working there for two weeks.

Here’s what I responded: “You’re right. The training isn’t good enough and you can’t learn this way.”

By the surprised look on his face, I could tell he expected a different response from me, as a coach.

I went on: “By choosing to think the training isn’t good enough and you can’t learn this way, you’re blocking yourself from learning the job. That’s 100% on you. It’s up to you to decide to choose another thought that will support you rather than restrain you.”

I offered some new thoughts:

I’m going to make the training work for me.

I’m capable of learning this job with the resources I have available.

I can do hard things.

I don’t know how to do the job right now, but I’m learning and I know I’ll figure it out.

You’re 100% responsible for where you are – right now – in this moment.

Not your boss, not your partner, not your ex or your mom.

It’s all you, friend.

And that is very, very good news.

Wouldn’t you rather know you’re in charge of your own outcomes?

Come explore this concept with me and let’s see what I can help you change and uplevel.
